The climate emergency is the biggest health crisis of our time, expected to cause 14.5 million additional deaths and 1.1 trillion US dollars in extra healthcare costs by 2050. Saad Uakkas, medical doctor and executive chair of the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC) talks to Nolita Mvunelo, programme manager at The Club of Rome about how the impacts of extreme weather events are threatening many of the hard-won advancements in public health infrastructure across African countries.
