
Europe should compete on its own terms
"As the US lowers the bar on human rights and judicial security and the Donald Trump administration focuses on obliterating climate and environmental legislation, there is an opportunity for the EU to lead on a different economic and security model, one that fosters socioeconomic and environmental values and attracts talent and resources that are looking for safe harbour," writes Sandrine Dixson-Declève co-founder of the Systems Transformation Hub and honorary president of the The Club of Rome. The Systems Transformation Hub is a pioneering partnership of organisations that helps bring systems thinking and acting to European policy-making.
Sandrine explains that the EU will not become more competitive by reducing its social and environmental protections as was proposed on February 26 in the European Commission’s first “omnibus” package.
